Plugivery Forums _ The Snail - Feature Requests _ The Snail, Customize Target Notes ?

Posted by: anatole Mar 2 2018, 11:05 AM

I'd like to try to use the snail to accurately tune an acoustic piano, it's seems however the spiral view is a pure mathematical equal temperament (octave ratio = 2) that does not take into account octave stretching nor any inharmonicity model for real life sounding strings,
could it be possible to customize (with many decimals) each "target notes" ? that way it would be really interesting for a piano tuner.
thanks a lot!

Hi,

Thank you for your message and support ticket, we have passed this onto the IRCAM Lab developers for reply.

This could be a very attractive plugin for use with microtonal music if it supported alternative temperaments. That would be especially so if it supported the import of Scala (.SCL) tuning files (or another standard tuning file format). This would also address the needs of the original post.

Hi Mousemambo & Anatole,

Thank you for your interest.
We will soon be launching a Snail v2 beta program, mainly focused on temperaments.
Please send me a private message if you wish to enroll this program.

Best,
Robert
