I LOVE pleasant surprises.

And I know that development of an effect algorithm takes some serious effort. So I'm not surprised to have to wait for a while to see new additions. Releasing multiple at the same time... Kudos.

However, I'd like to know: is this release going to fill all the 13 empty spots on the website and that's the bundle? Or does it still pay out to make suggestions for new additions? Don't get me wrong, this is some serious value for the price asked, this bundle already has more single processors than I can typically use. My question is more like: in case we still have some ideas for titles, would you employ further resources to develop them if you're intrigued?

:-)

Hello Medienhexer,

Thanks for your interest in Plug+Mix.

Yes the 13 empty spots will be filled real soon.
As we are in the final stages, the choices have been made. But I am interested to know what your suggestions are, I bet you some of the plug-ins you might be thinking will be there.

Best Regards - Nick

If I may add, it is 14 new plug-ins that are on the way and we sure do monitor ideas that could make the collection a must have bundle ;-)

Following up with users requests, it does appear that there will be more than 40 plug-ins at the end.

You'll soon be informed.

Thanks - Peter

I'd just like to add, that the V.I.P bundle is very underrated, and amazing value, for instance I have a drum track[SSD4] and I'm using the P&M "Retro Equalizer",and although I've tried using different EQ's,nothing trims the low thud better than the "Retro EQ".

Also, though I'm pleased that more plugins are on their way for those of us that bought the V.I.P bundle,I hope that they're not guitar sim type processors,as I think things like the "Retro EQ",and the "Clairisonix",are far more their usefull, compared to say the "British or California Tone",just MO of course, and I should point out I still like those 2 guitar oriented plugs,I just think, the wider ranging tonal shaping products, are kind of plugins we hope to see soon.

Hello rksguit,

Thanks for your interest in the Plug&Mix plug-ins.

I'm glad to hear of getting good results with the "Retro EQ",and the "Clairisonix" plugs, the "British or California Tone" are of course primarily for simulating guitar amps.

They're very useful for that purpose, although some of our users put them to work in more "creative" ways, like to put distortion on the lead voice in a selected part of a song.

"Retro EQ",and the "Clairisonix" are usually the first plug-ins people mention when they are saying great things about the bundle and how it has helped them to get a mix they way the want it sound.

We were on the phone with the developers last night and everything is moving along to plan. We believe that everyone will be pleased with the new plug-ins that will complete the V.I.P. Bundle.

Coming real soon, stay tuned.

Best Regards,

Nick

... that was a little intense.

Eric,

No one wants software delivered with bugs. I'm okay with waiting but it doesn't create a good impression when specific promises are made (see first quote) then seemingly broken. It would have been fine to say, "It's just a question of weeks", instead of "days". There are, after all, still a few weeks remaining before P&M would miss the deadline that was set when the DC VIP Bundle was released.

However, you did say it was, "... just a question of days now." Everyone will understand if there were some last minute technical problems. What people don't understand is when someone isn't up on their word, so hook us all up with an honest explanation. Under the circumstances, it's the least you can do. If P&M plan on competing successfully in VST development such a forthright explanation will help overcome this particular miscommunication and since this is your first foray, this is the very foundation on which your reputation will rest upon for some while. The time spent on changing the name and creating a new logo doesn't help the situation regardless of it being separate departments. Help us help you.

Thanks,

Mick

Hello Mick,

Eric is out of the office, he asked me to tell you that he understands the frustration you are feeling right now about the delay of the launch of the full Plug&Mix VIP Bundle.

You are right that we want this bundle to be as solid as possible on all the various platforms it will support and the test cycle has taken a bit longer than we had been anticipating. But it is in everyone's interest that this procedure is not rushed.

Thanks for your comments and continuing interest. We believe that the remaining plug-ins that complete the full bundle will be a pleasant surprise for everyone out there.

The very latest projection is for a launch before the end of this month.

Best Regards,

Nick

Dear friends,

We totally understand how frustrating it is to wait and we do apologise about that. But launching 14 new plug-ins (I mean 14 GOOD plug-ins) is not an easy task and the delay came from the fact that we rejected quite a few as they didn't meet our quality standards. The good news is that we partnered with new audio devs that did an incredible job on some requested plug-ins and that were giving us a hard time... We think you will LOVE them ;-)

A this point, ALL the plug-ins are ready. We have also spent a great amount of time "fine tuning" them and beta testing in every possible OS and DAW environments including Windows 8 and Mountain Lion which is crazy ! We should have all final installers ready by the end of this week and it looks like we will officially announce the availability of P&Ms version 3.0 early next week. The V.I.P. bundle will from now on contain 40 plug-ins and the upgrade will be FREE of charge for everyone (as promised).

And what if I mentioned (as a tease) that ALL plug-ins might be ??? ready ;-)

Believe us, we are just as impatient as you are to see these plug-ins released as we have invested quite a lot of time and money in the P&M project. We simply didn't want to rush in to delivering anything but high quality products.

Thank you all for your patience and your understanding.

Or as polite folks would ask: hey, guys, how's the update progressing? Today looks like a mighty fine day to me for the release of the rest of the bundle. Whatd'cha say?

If it's technical problems, take your time and fix them. Nothing annoys more than problems. If you're getting gun shy - don't! There's size and there's strength in numbers tongue.gif

Seriously, though, come on, Christmas dude is lurking :-D

Posted by: eric Dec 4 2012, 01:17 PM

Thanks Medienhexer for bringing this conversation back to a higher level.

So here is where we are today: We did try to respect our own deadline launching the 14 new plug-ins before the end of November but we obviously did encounter a few minor issues as we were beta testing the plugs and didn't want to launch shaky versions of our products.

As for the" teasing", we were really hoping to have all plug-ins available in the AAX format for the launch of V3.0. That turned-out to be a nightmare having to deal with Avid's incomplete documentation and some terrible backward compatibility issues, like a lot of other developers. Again we didn't want to release anything if it isn't totally stable and usable in real-life situations.

So now were almost OK with the AAX but if we don't solve ALL issues related to that format, we'll simply release V3.0 at the latest next Tuesday and we will have the AAX upgrade as soon as it's stable enough for our quality standards.

All of us here at DontCrack truly apologise for the delay that we understand it's a pain, but once again, we are doing our very best to keep our deadlines while making sure the products are as good as you can rightfully expect them to be.

Thanks you again for your patience and your understanding.

All the best - Eric

You won't have uninstall anything, the installer for the VIP Version 3,0 will keep all your presets on the existing plug-ins while updating the 26 older plug-ins and adding the 14 new ones.

Hi guys,

I just do want to add that it is a FULL installer with 40 plug-ins that will need to be downloaded and installed. The new V3 installer will remove previous plug-ins and install the new ones. But as Nick said, it will keep all presets and load previous song settings transparently.

We are working on an issue with the AAX versions where one can't identify if it is an RTAS or AAX plugin that loads from the plug-in menu in PT as nothing as been planed to identify it wink.gif We encounter that with other dev plugins wher you only see twice the same plug without knowing if it is an RTAS or AAX that you are loading on a track...

Also Avid doesn't make AAX plug-ins compatible with previous RTAS settings saved within a song which is a bummer. Moreover, we are keeping in mind that PT 11 will no longer give access to RTAS plug-ins.

We hope you understand the issue here as we want to make sure that you know what you're doing when loading an RTAS or AAX plugin. That will be a great issue for many of us when switching to Pro Tools 11 with no backward compatibility with RTAS settings saved in previous songs blink.gif

Hope all of that makes sense and that you do understand the issue we're working on...

Thanks - Peter

And once again ProFools is the problem with something....HOW did this junk software ever become a go to DAW I will never understand...oh, wait, it was the hardware that made it usable! tongue.gif

blink.gif I believe you @ Plug & Mix have wasted too much time with implementing the "new" Plug-In formats. AU - VST + RTAS would have really been sufficient! Those 3 formats should be enough. Developers like Avid are keen on forcing others to implement their formats. Developers should think to support also users of older OS - and not exclude them right away!

But I understand that a new company (with reduced staff + resources) needs maybe more time and efforts.
You guys should do a better site with more information, goodies, clips, presets exchange etc.
When people start to think that you're not present, active, they get tired fast.

Good luck! sleep.gif

I can already see the AAX support icon added to the current titles, but everything is still version 2.

If it's going to take a little longer, maybe remove the AAX icon for the time being?

Hi SoundMaster777,

Thanks for the kind words !

You are right, we didn't need a new plugin format compatibility to struggle with but that's how it is and many customers did request it... That has been a lot a work but we are not going to ask anyone to pay for it ;-) Our customers are V.I.Ps...

A few months back, we promised we'd have 40 plug-ins by the end of 2012 and they are now ready to launch. Not so bad for a "reduced staff" company, don't you think ;-) We've been waiting for the new iMac to launch since September and still no Mac Pros around... Not mentioning the much awaited Logic Pro X blink.gif As you see, even the big boys struggle with new product launch-outs dry.gif

You are also right that we should offer more goodies, videos, presets, etc. We are working on it and can use all the support from our users. If you do have cool presets or other useful tips & tricks, please send them along and we'll evaluate for publishing...

We are actually finalising the installers and we should upload ALL versions 3 tonight or tomorrow if nothing strange happens again...

So thank you all again for your patience and your understanding.

Kind Regards - Peter

You are good with forum posts and we can use all the help explaining what we do all over the web but not before the official launch-out ;-)

Cheers - Peter

" We are actually finalising the installers and we should upload ALL versions 3 tonight or tomorrow if nothing strange happens again..."

Is there a problem with V3?

Dear friends,

Last thursday as we were ready to build the installers, we found a few minor issues with the AAX format and we had to work on it mad.gif

The good news is that our devs did a great job and it looks like all issues have been solved including backword compatibility with previous RTAS sessions... We are actually beta testing but it looks good...

I believe we should have all installers ready in the next hours and should announce the official launch anytime this week.

I uploaded a http://tmp.dontcrack.com/medias/p_m_v3_plugins_mosaique.png for you guys to appreciate the cool looking GUIs our designer applied on the new plug-ins.

Thank you all for your patience and your understanding.

Kind Regards - Peter
