Plugivery Forums _ Open Bar _ Why Simple Mechanics Increase Player Engagement

Posted by: fapeiyeunesou Feb 26 2025, 11:56 AM

Why do simple mechanics often lead to greater engagement in online casino games? It would seem that the more complex the game, the more interesting, but in practice, it is slots with clear gameplay or, for example, projects such as Aviator that cause the greatest excitement among players. What makes people come back to these games again and again?

Interesting question!!! I recently came across an article https://www.godisageek.com/2025/01/the-psychology-behind-aviator-top-10-factors-keeping-players-hooked/ about how retention mechanics work. One key factor is variable rewards: when a player doesn't know if they'll get a reward, it increases the desire to continue. Add to this the elements of progression, social aspects, and FOMO (fear of missing out on something important), and there you have the formula for “sticking around”. Developers balance engagement and ethics by limiting play sessions, introducing transparent monetization mechanics, and even time-in-game warnings. But there's always a risk that a game that's too engaging will become a problem.

It seems to me that a lot depends not only on the developers, but also on the players themselves. You can introduce time limits, a reminder system, but if a person himself is prone to addiction, he will find a way to keep playing. For example, mobile games often have a waiting mechanic (where you have to wait for energy to recover), but many people just buy workarounds. So the question is a complicated one!
