Hi,
we are working on a new version that should be released in September.
It will be fully compatible with Apple Silicon chips.
Actual version (3.11) works on M1/M2 computers for the following versions: stand alone and vst.
AAX and Audio Units can be used if you run your DAW (Pro Tools or Logic) through Rosetta.
Thank you for your patience,

Emmanuel

Hi,
Unfortunately this is not possible with GRM Tools' current MIDI support (Standalone or plugin). But you can achieve this precision by using automation instead of MIDI, and relying on the host's (DAW) support of NRPN/14-bits MIDI. Choose a host that supports your controller, insert the plugin of your choosing, and assign a MIDI control to the automation of a parameter.
To go further on this, please contact us on grmtools.support[at]ina.fr

Best,
Emmanuel

Hi, the answer is straight forward, delete the French PDF files, and the plugs load the English versions instead....simple biggrin.gif

Hi,
If you launched the installer on an english OS and check "english" when you read and accept the end user license agreement, you should be able to launch the english version of the help (accessible by simply clicking on the GRM Tools logo on the left bottom corner of the plug-in).
If you have any question, feel free to contact us at grmtools.support[at]ina.fr

Hi Ĝivind,

the new version 3.10, compatible with macOS BigSur should be released before the end of the summer, early September.
The actual version (3.9.0) can be installed on it, several users have reported success in using them.
Regarding M1 compatibility: we are planning to release a native version, but we are waiting for our protection supplier, iLok, to release their protection mechanism for this architecture; only then could we release native M1 GRM Tools, and it might not be released until beg. 2022.

Best regards

Emmanuel

Hello!

The bug will be fixed in 3.10 version.
But as there is a big file cleanup for this version, it won't be ready immediately. I hope for the end of the year...

But in the meantime, you can use the VST version. The features are the same, and in VST you can also use the multichannel outputs.

Best regards

Hi Wojo,

when you press Freeze and the mix parameter is at 100%, the track is "muted": you can only hear the effect.
If you want to do a smoother transition, you will have to write an automation of the mix parameter (and also the freeze button).

As you said, you can also duplicate the track, make your manipulations on this second track, and then make some edit.

You can watch this tutorial if you need further informations on Freeze (or any GRM Tools).

And if you have any issue using the GRM Tools, please contact us here: grmtools.support[at]ina.fr

Best regards,

Emmanuel

no, nothing was changed. It is exactly the same fft code.
But latency depends also on the block size in your host application. Maybe you have changed something in the preferences.

Hi Awelex and Anatolyj,

Effectively, there is a strange behavior with ProTools and 2D controller, with or without automation.
I will try to understand and fix the problem.

But, some other behaviors are normal :

Some parameters can be controlled by several controls. For exemple, low value in Reson is controlled by :
- low parameter
- center & width parameters
- preset and superslider
If all those parameters are automated simultaneously, results may be unpredictable.

In Reson, the 2D slider controls Center and Width parameters. If it is placed on the right, or on the left, different values of center and width can correspond to the same values of low and High.
So the displayed position is not the same, but the values of low and high are the same.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel,
it crashes really fast when I select two user presets and start to draw one, most of time it crashes when I stop to draw, sometimes when I'm drawing. Same problem with 32 and 64 bit (I use 64bit one).

David.

Hi,

I am trying to reproduce your problem.
Do you have the same problem with the 32 bits and the 64 bits versions ?
How long does it take to crash ?
Is it random or reproducible ?

Regards

Hello Luca,

Almost all GRM Tools have a 'mix' parameter. Set this parameter to 0 to have the dry mix.

BandPass : set HP to max and LP to min.
Equalize : set a flat response (preset 1)
PitchAccum : set both gains to min (-96dB) and direct to max (0 dB)

With this settings, you will get a dry mix, but the processing load doesn't change.

Best Regards

Emmanuel

Hi Simon,

It's strange because theoretically older versions are compatibles with the latest.
Could you open your session with an old version of Live ?

Best Regards

Hi Anatolyj,

Multichannel VST are only available with some sequencer (Nuendo, Cubase, Reaper, etc..).
With others host applications, a default configuration is used :
- stereo for Classic & Evolution bundles
- max intput/output for Spaces bundle.
'Sources layout' and 'speakers layout' parameters allow to choose the actual number of inputs and outputs.

Best Regards

Emmanuel

It will be fixed in the next upgrade

Effectively, we ave forgotten the english version of the GRM Tools Spectral Transform documentation.
More precisely, the french documentation is installed twice....
You can download it here.

- Fusion has only 3 Agitation groups instead standart 4 (but the same in v363, or so should be in fusion?)

For complex reasons of compatibility with old versions (with only one bank of Agitation) Fusion has only 3 bank of Agitation.

Hi Anatolyj,

GRM Tools plugins in Spectral Transform and Evolution bundles are based on Fourier Transform.
The frequency resolution is directly linked to the size of the block of samples.
In Evolution with 65536 frequency bands, you need 131072 samples to start the process, which is almost 3 seconds at 44.1 kHz.

Equalize is also based on FFT. It allows to have very sharp filtering, or even to completely cut some bands.
But the drawback is the latency.

You are right, there are tons of EQ, each with pros and cons.
You can choose the one that best fits your needs.

Best Regards

Emmanuel

Hi Anatolyj,

All the GRM Tools plugins send the latency to the DAW when inserted or when the latency change.
It seems that Studio One 2 does not take this information into account when the plugins is inserted.
This bug was fixed in Studio One 3.

Best Regards

Emmanuel
