Plugivery Forums _ Plug & Mix _ Unwanted(?) Distortion In Echofex

Posted by: vic_france Sep 30 2011, 03:19 PM

I am hearing some distortion in EchoFlex, that I don't think is intentional (at any rate, it doesn't sound like an "analog" distortion to me wink.gif ).
Please download the following Url..
http://vic.emerson.perso.neuf.fr/Uploads/EchoFlex.zip
It contains a very short audio clip, and the EchoFlex preset that was used.
It is just one long note on a Rhodes sound, played twice.. once with the Mix control 100% dry, and then again at 100% wet.
The "wet" setting is as close to the dry as possible.. with one exception.. "Variation". With "Variation" at zero, the sound is perfectly clean, but distorted when increased (it is set at "3" here). Turning down the Tone control does reduce this, but seeing as the Rhodes has hardly any high frequencies anyways, should that be necessary?
Anyways, I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks wink.gif

Hi Vic,

Isn't that a too high input problem ?

Will have more testing going when we have a minute...

Thanks - Peter

Hi Peter,
No. I used EchoFlex as an insert, and as you can hear, it is completely clean when set to 100% dry (on the GUI itself). It is also clean at 100% wet, when "Variation" is set to zero.
I would almost "not mind" if this were just a "harmonic distortion" (aliasing?) problem, but, from your own comment too.. it does sound like some kind of overload somewhere, doesn't it? smile.gif

Hi Vic,

Was that fixed with 1.1.1 ?

No other reports on that from other users...

Thanks - Peter

No, it's still the same in v1.1.1
(I'm pretty sure that it's only really noticeable with "sine"-type sounds, which might account for it not having been reported by other people yet).

Hi Vic,

sorry for the delay on that one.

We'll look in to that asap.

Cheers - Peter

Hi Vic,

sorry for the delay...

Hmmm. what is one supposed to make of someone who develops a delay plugin then writes "sorry for the delay!"? laugh.gif

No worries. wink.gif Like I said, it can be worked around by lowering the Tone control (but shouldn't be necessary, IMHO)
