![]() ..well I always wanted to write a kick-ass plugin... New one in the labs, exploring telephone compansion algorithms.. check wikipedia for Mu law and A law ![]() I haven't done the full telephone thing, and reduced bandwidth and bit depth, only translated the math, but in doing so it's allowed for variable 'constants' of Mu and A [right clicking them allows direct access to their normal values]. The big triangle allows constant xfade between the dry signal and the two algorithms, right clicking allows quick access to honing in one each point. No oversampling - so watch the high end ![]() No value labels - I'm experimenting with a different graphics library, and haven't got that yet!! Std lab rules apply - this is experimental work, there are no guarantees as being fit for any particular purpose; it doesn't crash on my machine, I hope it doesn't on yours! Given the nature of hard waveshaping and no antialiasing, keep the volume down during initial testing until you know how this plug works. Other than that, let me know ![]() Oh, and it's here. Sorry for the delay in replying.
Has it worked OK? The effect can be quite extreme, but has had good feedback on KVR ![]() DSP |

thx for getting back!
I might use the algorithm in other works, but as an effect it's done and I doubt will be revisited. I find it astounding what is done with our voices over phones lines! One day I might do a full telephone thing - bandwidth and compand, but with three ongoing projects at the mo, I'm not sure when I would have the time! ATB DSP |

ATB DSP sounds like a fun project that telephone thing(kind of your version of speakerphone)only with telephones hehe, keep me posted on that one |
