Steinberg releases new updates for the WaveLab family. The versions WaveLab 6.1.1, WaveLab Studio 6.1.1 and WaveLab Essential 6.0.1 provide compatibility with the Windows 7 operating system. These updates have not run all quality assurance tests as is the case with regular updates, therefore no additional support is available for these versions.

“Our priority objective was to offer a solution as soon as possible, allowing our valued customers to use WaveLab 6 with the new Windows 7 operating system. We’re releasing this update earlier than actually planned,” comments Timo Wildenhain, marketing manager at Steinberg.

The download includes the complete installer packages for Windows 7. Older versions of the WaveLab 6 family do not have to be removed before installing this update.

  • Latency improvement - PSP VintageWarmer2 has 639 samples of latency now.

  • Various weird meter behavior and synchronization problems - solved.

Known issues:
  • Due to channel routing changes we advice to check the Mono-Stereo-L-R selector state.
  • Thanks to the reduced latency we advice to check up your track synchronization. In the case of the manual latency compensation please reset your delays to adequate values.
  • The Meter delay knob on the rear panel is not present in this version.
  • Tow VU/PPM and Scale range parameters have new - more adequate names now. MeterScale changed to MeterType (VU/PPM) and MeterRange changed to MeterScale.
  • In some applications there might occur a strange meters' behavior in GR mode on silence right after initialization.

After more than six months of development and refinement, Tonehhammer ready to bring you the heaviest, fattest sounding guitar riff loop library you've ever heard. We worked with one of the best heavy session guitar players in the Scandinavia, Danne Forsblom.

Danne used his custom 6, 7 and 8 string guitars through a variety of different amps and distortion pedals to serve up positively brutal and mind-blowingly precise metal and hard rock rhythms. The style of the library is a mixture of nu metal, death metal and thrash, with a touch of hard rock/funk on top.

The library contains nearly 2000 riffs/phrases/licks, which are divided into 7 core tempos from 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 BPM. All the loops/riffs were meticulously edited, so they stay tightly in sync and adapt to host tempo, so you can literally use the loops in any tempo you desire. Each and every riff was overdubbed between 4 to 16 times over (Yes, friggin 16 times!) with ultra-tight precision, resulting in a truly massive wall-of-guitar sound.

We allow you additional custom mixing power with our 4-channel dual-layer mixing technique, easily controlled by your keyboard's modwheel. Every patch also includes special key-switching to allow for up to +/- 3 semitones of on-the-fly root pitch adjustment. There are host-tempo synching, time-stretching, vowel filter wah-wah, independent layer-routing and dfd-ready versions of every instrument patch, for maximum flexibility. This library is designed especially for Kontakt 3 and later, but includes a section of Kontakt 2-compatible patches and a basic set of exs24 patches as well.

We also wanted to ensure longevity and variety in the content, so it contains a large selection of more traditional rhythm riffs, as well as more aggressive, experimental and industrial grooves. With our Epic Guitars, users can literally create an endless variety of new songs out of the content in a matter of minutes. All wav files are also directly accessible, to allow limitless creative potential.

Beware, this entire library is overdriven and distorted to hell and back. There are virtually no clean tones to be found in it at all. However, every loop was recorded bone-dry, without any reverb or other spatial effects added anywhere.

It's available for download with an MSRP of $99

Note: Native Instruments Kontakt 2/3/4 full retail version required for .nki files. EXS24 compatible software required for .exs files. Free "Kontakt Player" not supported.

Novation has released StepSeq, a free Max For Live Patch that turns Novation's Launchpad into a fully fledged melodic step sequencer.

Conceived as a cool but powerful sequencer to enable Launchpad users to programme melodies, leads and basslines quickly in Ableton's Live, the buttons are configured diatonically (as opposed to chromatically, as with a traditional step sequencer). The degree of the scale and its tonal centre can be set by the user, meaning that, once set up, any note you trigger in your sequence will fit in harmonically with your track, making it really easy to keep within the context of the song.

StepSeq is a MIDI effect that generates a sequence of notes, which can be used to play any instrument compatible with Ableton Live (including those from third-party developers). Once inserted, StepSeq communicates directly with Launchpad, transforming its 'User 2' mode into the interface for a step sequencer, so you can programme patterns quickly and simply on the fly, while retaining control over Live from the same control surface.

The round buttons on the right-hand side of Launchpad are used to determine which parameters the grid of square buttons will affect, enabling you to alter the velocity, pitch, and length of notes, just like on an old-school groovebox but with a few extra tricks. An additional probability function lets you set the likelihood that a note will be triggered, so you can add interesting variation to your sequences. Being a patch for Max For Live, StepSeq can be edited, so you can customise its features and use it as part of larger patches.

Ableton Live 8.1 and Max For Live are both required in order for Novation's StepSeq to operate. Currently, using StepSeq and Live's CS Step Sequencer (which is ideal for drum programming) simultaneously with Launchpad, results in conflicting LED update messages. This will be resolved in forthcoming updates.

This beautiful library was recorded on location in New Delhi, India, home of the Bollywood Film industry, by celebrated soundtrack composer, Gaurav Dayal. 'Classic Bollywood' includes extremely useful and magical music loops, percussion loops and vocal phrases for music producers around the world. All 100% royalty-free…

In addition to the percussion loops, this library features the exotic sounds of an Indian string orchestra (recorded live) along with lush melodic male/female solo vocals and chorus phrases. All vocals have been sung in native languages rather than just alaaps. These loops will work beautifully with any genre be it mainstream World, Pop, Hip Hop, House, Electronica, Orchestral or any other style.

While most other libraries have covered Classical Indian styles, many of these have been unusable due to the structure and abstract nature of Indian Classical Music. Bollywood music, on the other hand, has evolved over the years and has always incorporated and adapted styles from North Indian & Western Music

Now, for the first time, we are able to bring you the glorious and TRUE sound of Indian cinema, from classic 1960s style soundtracks to contemporary Bollywood soundtracks, featuring a mix of Indian melodies & Western arrangements. All composed, produced and recorded by one of the greatest composers Bollywood has ever known. We are extremely proud and honoured to welcome Guarav Dayal to the Producer Loops label. We are very happy our customers can now get their hands on 100% "Authentic" Bollywood Soundtrack Loops for their music productions.

About Gaurav Dayal:

FabFilter has announced a Holiday Bundle Sale running until December 31, offering 25% discount on all plug-in bundles in the online FabFilter shop.

On top of that, FabFilter has updated its Pro-Q equalizer plug-in to version 1.02.

Changes in Pro-Q v1.02 :

• Fixed several issues in the EQ display when changing the Q value of multiple selected curves, especially when they have both negative and positive gain values.
• Fixed bug that caused disabling EQ bands not to work in the mono version of Pro-Q.
• The parameter value display in the EQ display is now positioned correctly when dragging multiple selected curves.
• Double-clicking on a knob and typing a new parameter value now correctly adds a new Undo state.
• Improved the 'constrained drag' mode (Alt-dragging): it is now much easier to make small vertical or horizontal changes.
• Improved the auto-adjust gain range behavior: after the range has been increased, dragging still feels the same as before, and when you switch back to the original range, the mouse cursor will end up at the original position as well.
• Improved the frequency response of the filter curves for low-cut and high-cut filter shapes.
• Fixed a possible crash when starting to Alt- or Ctrl+Alt-drag a curve when no curve is selected at all.
