Hello,
I purchased your VIP bundle back in april, back then I install and activate the plugs succesfully at my MacBook (VST and AU).

Now I am trying to install them at the studio and I can not make the plugins to authorize completely. I am using your 3.0.3 installer and I did not have any issues during install, the plugins show in ProTools.

It "looks like" that I am able to activate them, and I get the pop up window telling me that they "activate succesfully", BUT after closing the plug (also quiting ProTools) and re-open the plugs they still show "Demo" at the top left corner.

I am running ProTools HD 10.3.5 and Mac OSX (I am not in the studio right now but I think its OsX 10.7.5)

Please help me.

Thank you.

Hello camiloorozco,

First, I would suggest "repairing permissions" we had some other people who had this and once they "repaired" everything went well. When the permissions aren't working correctly it prevent the software from installing to the right location and ProTools doesn't find the P&M in the right place.

Another thing that has got people up and running is to manually assigned the "music" user rights to write in the library folder containing P&Ms authorization program.

The Mac OS has been full of "tricks" as the modifications done by Apple lately have not been well documented.

Try this then re-install and it should work, some other people had this little problem.

About ProTools 10.3.5

The new 10.3.5 is really different as it is preparing the way for compatibility with the upcoming ProTools 11 and there are "Pace Signatures" which ProTools has to see to be able to load the Plug-ins even when they are correctly installed. These "signatures" are real tricky to apply and are not working correctly for us and other software companies. If it is possible to go back to 10.3.3, it is advisable as this issue doesn't exist for that earlier version. We are working on it but I can't give you a green light on it yet.

If it doesn't solve the problem get back to me as soon as you can.

Best Regards,

Nick

Hello camiloorozco,

Here is some info about "file sharing" which is the underlying "issue" about "permissions".

In some cases the "music user rights" in the "Library" gets set in a way that says you don't have "permission" to change it and the plug-ins or DAW tries to write new info and it gets blocked.

In your case ( and in a lot of other people's cases ) the permissions have somehow got set wrongly and that blocks the functioning of the software.

Luckily "repairing" the "permissions" resets them properly and it works again, don't worry about the "music user rights" it is only for those who don't get up and running after the "repairing".

Here is the underlying logic about "permissions"

Macintosh file sharing (and indeed, Mac OS X Lion as well) is based on the concept of users. You can share items with no users, one user, or many users, depending on your needs and what you tell your Mac about who is allowed to see and access specific folders.

Users: People who share folders and drives (or your Mac) are users. A user’s access to items on your local hard drive is entirely at your discretion.

When you first set up your Mac, you created your first user. This user automatically has administrative powers, such as adding more users, changing preferences, and having the clearance to see all folders on the hard drive.

Administrative users: Although a complete discussion of the special permissions that a user with administrator permissions has on a Mac running Mac OS X is very complex, note two important things:

The first user created (usually when you install OS X for the first time) is automatically granted administrator (Admin) powers.

Only an administrator account can create new users, delete some (but not all) files from folders that aren’t in his or her Home folder, lock and unlock System Preferences panes, and a bunch of other stuff. If you try something and it doesn’t work, make sure you’re logged in as an Administrator or can provide an Administrator username and password when prompted.

All this is the "permissions" that sometimes go a bit haywire either through user error or the mysterious ways of the Mac OS.

Best Regards,

Nick
