Plugivery Forums _ The Snail - Bug Reports _ Problems With The Snail Crashing

In case anyone ever has the same problem:

I had problems previously with the Snail crashing. The problem is that the Snail uses the JUCE C++ framework for its graphical user interface. It is an incompatibility problem of JUCE with Nvidia graphics cards. I do not know if newer versions of JUCE still have this problem. However, the current version of the Snail is 1.2.12 and is from 2017 (three years old at this time) and still seems to have this problem.

There is a workaround though. To get the snail to work in Cubase 10, I used the 32bit version of the Snail plugin and used VSTbridge to load it into Cubase.

I recently built a new computer with an AMD graphics card, and all of my problems with the Snail vanished. It really seems to be an Nvidia issue.

Thank you for your report, and yes we are aware of this issue and OpenGL. We shall hopefully be working with NVIDIA to detail further and also JUCE to assist for a future update.

I made a mistake in my post above. I used JBridge to get the 32bit version to work in cubase 10. :-)
