Nomad Factory released 80'sSpace v2 on August 30.

https://go.nomadfactory.com/products/p3054-80s-Spaces/

I learned about it through the DontCrac[k] newsletter.

The new version supports the latest OS at the moment, AAX native, VST2, VST3, Intel x64 CPU and Apple Silicon.

The IRs and presets have been greatly increased and the UI has been revamped.

Sound quality was perfect, CPU load was light, and operation was nimble.

Mr. Eric Norot, CEO of Plugivery / Nomad Factory, sent out the following message in the DontCrac[k] newsletter.
"Nomad Factory users have been eagerly waiting for this. this upgrade will affect the entire Nomad Factory product line over the course of the next few months."
"It has been very challenging for myself and the development team at Plugivery to take over the Nomad factory brand, a few years back, when owner and CEO Bernie Torelli sadly past away. Our developers have been hard at work to port, literally, millions of lines of codes to our modern framework assuring backward compatibility, and FREE upgrades for the next decades. We hope to have all Nomad Factory products ported to our new framework as soon as we possibly can."

I love NomadFactory plug-ins, so I hope that Mr. Eric Norot's words will come true and we will have a "brighter future" this time around.

What do you guys expect from NomadFactory in the future?

If we send our requests to Plugivery / Nomad Factory, maybe something will change.

Finally, Mr. Eric Norot and Plugivery's user support personnel, please also check the user forum and reply.

It's great news that the Nomad Factory plugins are getting some love from a new team!

I had the honor and privilege of doing some beta testing for Bernie before he passed away and his generosity has provided me with licenses for almost all the NF catalog except the 80's Spaces which I may pick up during the sale.

So I'm very exited that great plugins like Cosmos, Drum Tools, MFX-Magma etc may be in active development again.

However, one of the things I'm reading on various forums and these are my feelings as well, one of the most useful updates would be for resizable GUIs or at least more GUI size options.

When most of the NF factory plugins were first released, common monitor resolutions were much smaller such as 1366 x 768. Today 1920x1080 is one of the most common resolutions and 4K is becoming more and more popular.

This causes what I call "GUI Shrink" where plugins that were the perfect size on older resolutions are now too small for today's higher res.

I noticed this right away with the 80's Spaces version 2 update. While it is usable at 1920x1080 it is a bit too small to be comfortable. I don't have a 4K monitor but imagine it would be even smaller on one of them.

So I'd like to encourage the new team to look into resizable GUIs for any of the NF plugins that get updated. smile.gif

Your experience as a beta tester must have been invaluable and wonderful.

I strongly agree with the implementation of a resizable GUI.

I was using a WQHD resolution display for a while and found the plug-in GUI so small that it was difficult to operate, so I purchased a new display with FHD resolution.

In recent years, I feel that more and more third-party plug-ins are implementing resizable GUIs.

I assume that the NF development team is currently busy porting Burny's legacy to new platforms.

I would like to make my requests known to NF when a new version of their product catalog becomes available.

Hi syurin and teksonik,

First of all, thank you very much for your comments in this forum. I do see that myself and the team have not been very active on this forum board and I apologize about that.

To keep you folks in the loop, it is much more than Nomad Factory products that needed to be upgraded to our new framework. As you may know, we also acquired the responsibility to keep the BBE Sound plug-ins up to date (as these have been developed by Nomad Factory for BBE Sound) and there is also Plug & Mix that was an other big project that I started years back, again using the Nomad Factory framework to build our own plug-ins...

The problem when porting software from an old framework, to a new one, is "Backward Compatibility". It is the "fine tuning" that literally takes weeks or even months to do for each plug-in, so that it sounds and feels exactly the same from old sessions recorded years ago. Many companies don't really bother with that but we do...

At this time we ported all BBE Sound software to our new framework and a major upgrade should be announced before the end of the month. That means that the Sonic Sweet Bundle and the BBE StompBoard will now be fully compatible with all computer OS and plug-in formats as 80s Spaces actually is.

There's also the Plug & Mix V.I.P. Bundle that counts 50 plug-ins that is now almost ready to launch, all nice and clean. That should be in early October.

So, as I said, other Nomad Factory products are on the way to be ported but it will unfortunately take some time. I hope all of them will be ready before the end the end of 2023... While we gained great experience porting lots of plug-ins, we know that is not something that can be done correctly with a finger snap.

As for the GUIs, I feel 80s Spaces is big enough on a 4k 27 inch iMac Pro but resizing is on the todo list for up coming updates... 😰

Thank you all for your patience and your understanding.

Eric

Thanks for the information Eric! I'm looking forward to all the updates however long it takes. I know it must be a huge task.

It's good to hear GUI resize is on the to-do list!

Would you mind if I quoted your post at KVR or could you if you have a moment comment? There is an 80's Spaces thread active right now. smile.gif

Thank you Eric for your very sincere reply.

As teksonik wrote, I too look forward to updates.

I own all Nomad Factory products and BBE Sound products, so I am very happy that "backward compatibility" will be maintained and that no products will be "discontinued".

I am very thankful that despite the massive update, there is no additional cost.
(Personally, I would like to see you charge an upgrade fee if necessary to maintain the software in the future, as long as it is not too expensive.)

I am also interested in the Plug & Mix Pro Bundle and would like to purchase it.

I would also like to see future updates or new product releases include an option to explicitly select low-pass filtered oversampling, such as x2, x4, etc., for aliasing noise reduction.

It was great to hear back from you.

Sadly, the BBE Plug-ins have not been updated yet.
Plug&Mix has not been updated either.
My anxiety has grown.

I haven't heard anything new. The old Nomad Factory plugins are still being sold at a discount so I'm not sure what's going on.

I believed the CEO's statement.
But it was not executed.
I understand to some extent that after the announcement on the Nomad Factory web site, the work was delayed due to COVID-19.
But the CEO's statement the other day was made under the current circumstances.
And with no notification of the delay, users are left in the dark.
For NomadFactory's bright future, I think it is necessary to care about the users and publicize the project with blistering publicity.

Eric, I am not angry but sad.

I understand that a huge port to a new platform is difficult.
But I think the users would be relieved if you could devote some more resources to communicate with them.

I am not a user representative, but I know there are several users around me who feel the same way.

I hope this message gets through.

I salute all the engineers who are working on this very difficult port and thank you, Eric, for saving NomadFactory.
And Eric, thank you for saving NomadFactory.

For those amongst you who would like to add a helping hand to speed up the release of the new 80s Space, we have just opened a Public Beta forum (you just need to log-in as a member to access it).

The more reports you file, the quicker we will be able to launch the new version, so please spread the world to let everyone know that new beta testers are very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I thought that being able to participate in the public beta test was a very good way to learn about the progress of the development as well as to aid in the development process.
As a user, I am happy to be able to contribute to a good future product.
I would like to access it as soon as possible.

Your feedback will always be really helpfull for our developers.
Please do test it on Windows and report if it works (or not) on YOUR system.

Any little help counts A LOT !!!!!!
