Why do simple mechanics often lead to greater engagement in online casino games? It would seem that the more complex the game, the more interesting, but in practice, it is slots with clear gameplay or, for example, projects such as Aviator that cause the greatest excitement among players. What makes people come back to these games again and again?

Interesting question!!! I recently came across an article https://www.godisageek.com/2025/01/the-psyc...players-hooked/ about how retention mechanics work. One key factor is variable rewards: when a player doesn't know if they'll get a reward, it increases the desire to continue. Add to this the elements of progression, social aspects, and FOMO (fear of missing out on something important), and there you have the formula for “sticking around”. Developers balance engagement and ethics by limiting play sessions, introducing transparent monetization mechanics, and even time-in-game warnings. But there's always a risk that a game that's too engaging will become a problem.
