I've found the same problem, where the different models were completely identical. The only way I've found to access the different tones was to scroll through the factory presets then alter the settings to taste. I'm running Plug & Mix VSTs through Reaper 64-bit on a Windows 10 PC, if that helps. I must say that all of the Plug & Mix amp models are really enjoyable to my ears, especially the American Tweed, for my two cents. Thanks for the tip! I will try it! |

I'm gonna go ahead and bump this, both for the sake of potential customers and for the developers. For potential customers, this specific amp is the most useless of all the P&M amps. You can get more tones out the of the 4 other amps despite this one claiming to have 6 or whatever models. Move along to the Magic Queen or British tone, because this specific amp will completely disappoint you. There is MINIMAL variation between the alleged 'models' For the Devs, The 'OFF' position is still adding in distortion. THIS PLUGIN DOES NOT WORK. There are clearly LOTS of things wrong with it, as described above, and by the fact that the OFF position is also an amp. Please fix this, and add some damn variation between the models. |

Hello shake_puig, Could you do a screenshot of the Analoger settings and send it to me at: nick@dontcrack.com Also the details of your system would help, the developers asked about that. Type of PC, OS, DAW, VST, AAX or AU? Best Regards, Nick So was this seriously never resolved? |

Hello LejonBrames, CONTOUR - Switches on extra tone-shaping for added control. ( basically it switches in a different response curve that adds different frequencies ) Your harmonic analyzer shows no harmonic difference between the models, but your ears should tell you a different story. As I said there are subtle differences between the models selected that you can further change with the bass, middle, and treble to get the tone that suits your song. That harmonic analyzer would show something very similar if you had all the amps at your disposition to test out as the heads and cabinets would show different EQ responses. OFF means the tonestack is not active, like a bypass, but you can still play with the tone controls. If it distorts maybe the incoming level is too high? Best Regards, Nick Nope, I follow proper gain-staging procedure. The Off sounds like an amp. This plugin seems to have some bugs. As I said, my ears really tell me no difference between these amps. |

Hello LejonBrames, I appreciate that the difference could be a bit subtle, but if one had the amps in question lined up to play with, I think the differences would be about the same. The 'Prince tone' and 'AC-30' are quite different to the 'Twin Verb and Bass-man' which model two amps from the same family. Same thing with the 'JMC-800' and the '2000 lead' who share the same heritage. You can customise the tones of each by switching the cabinets and adding contour to the sound as well as dealing in as much bass, middle and high end you want. Best Regards, Nick What does the 'contour' switch do, and what does 'OFF' do? OFF is still distorting the signal, and my harmonic analyzer shows no harmonic difference between the models, and only the EQ curve changes. |

I dunno if it's a bug or what, but there is nearly no difference between any of the tone stack amps. Does anyone else have this issue? |

Hello LejonBrames, We worked with the developers to put together plug-ins that were the best sounding tools for the studio. Some of the developers have a large collection of 'vintage' gear that have become the reference for mixing as they have proved to be the essential tools for recording and mixing. The Retro compressor has been modeled on the best sounding of those 'vintage' designs: Urei and DBX to have the 'analog warmth' that all those units are sought out for. The Electro-Optical is based on those who used the 'optical' method of measuring the input like the Pultec, the Retro Limiter is a blend of the best 'retro' limiters that exist for that 'golden age' of studio effects. UltraMaxit is a brickwall limiter that like a lot of 'maximizers' goes further than the original ones as software products can add an incredible amount to your average peak level. Screamer yes is very similar to the 'stomp boxes' out there, but with a few more options. Retro EQ does have an API 550A sound, but as I said it is a blend of the best sounding 'vintage' EQs. Liquid Air-Q like Maag and some other high-end EQ who specialize in treating the ultra high-end to give 'air' to a sound. Retro Filter is modelled on those retro 'vintage' filters that exist in the collection of our developers and they have quite a few in their personal studios. Best Regards, Nick How is the electro-optical compressor modeled off a pultec, an EQ? |

Just curious what some of the compressors and EQ were based off of. There's the Retro Comp, which I'm told were based of Urei and DBX designs, which as far as I know are 2 difference designs, so I dont actually know whats going on inside of it. Any input? Electro-Optical, is that LA-2A based, or just nondescript 'optical' compressor designed? Then we have the Retro Limiter, which also has compression models. Are those based on anything? Or even close to anything familiar? Just a design of their own? UltraMaxit seems to just be a limiter, but again, is it based on anything already existing? Screamer, while not a compressor/EQ per se, I'm assuming is just kind of based on overdrive pedals. So the EQ's, we have Brightness, which is obvious. Retro EQ is supposed to be API 550A Liquid Air-Q appears to be something like a Maag but with different freq points Clarisonix is another easy one. Retro Filter seems to just be filters with a single EQ band to use. Is it based on anything? What makes it 'retro'? |
