Hi Nick,

I have been noticing crashes on some mixing sessions in PT 12 lately during the loading process of the sessions. After troubleshooting these mixes trough the process of elimination I noticed that when a session has 2 instances of the VIP bundle Tilt plug-in the session crashes once PT is at the point of creating the session overview. Also when starting a sessions in safe mode with all plug-ins inactive the session crashes once I enable the 2 tracks that has the Tilt plug-in on them. So I'm wondering if there are still any planned updates coming out for the VIP bundle? Thx

Hi Notes,

Thanks for your interest in DontCrack and Plug&Mix.

Copyright protection is a necessary evil, but we have tried to make it real easy for our clients by making it a simple "serial number" authorisation.

As you said you can authorise up to Five machines/studios with your license.

So you could install the P&M V.I.P. Bundle at the site you are working. When the DAW reboots it will ask for your "serial number" that you can carry with you on your internal drive or USB Key (in case you forgot it, you can even log in to our store look at your order history and retrieve it from there.)

Of course when you install and authorise at another site, you are effectively giving away one of your licenses, so it would be advised to trash the P&M folder after finishing the job.

As you are using an external drive as your boot disk, you won't have to do this if the DAW you are using is on that drive as well.

If you are using the client's DAW, it will have to find the plug-ins in the folder where that DAW needs to find it. (where the plug-ins are, for example with ProTools in the Library/Application support/Avid folder) Just trash that when you are done.

You should be able to do this quite a few times with your serial as the fact you trash the folder resets the count on that machine.

I you ever find you have exhausted the license, just send me a support ticket and I will get you a 'fresh' serial.

Here is the link for that:

http://www.plugandmix.com/about/contact/

Hope this is clear enough and helps you out.

Best Regards,

Nick

Thank you for the info Nick.

If I understand it correctly the license gets stored in to the Pro Tools plug-in folder itself. As in my documents folder there's also a folder containing a file called VIP1.dc (C:\Users\*******\Documents\Plug and Mix\Licensing\VIP1.dc) do I need to trash this folder as well when leaving the location DAW behind? All the rest sounds pretty clear to me, thanks again

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to add the VIP bundle license to an USB stick to make it easier when traveling between studios? The 5 authorizations would run out in no time, also I haven't found a way to deactivate the license when my job is done at lets say studio X... as it is not my intention to give every studio a free VIP bundle on my expense. A transportable license would be an awesome addition. Thanks

Hello Notes,

One thing to check but it seems a bit bizarre to me is if the 3.1 is in "demo" mode which would prevent the presets from showing up.

Can you check the top left corner to see if the version number is listed instead of the word "demo"?

Best Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick,

The plug-ins are properly running in 3.1 mode, not demo. Anyway, I started recreating the settings today or rather remixing the sessions & saving new presets. After saving they show up in the preset folders as normal again. No more time to waste, clients are waiting.

Thanks for the help attempts,
Cheers

Hello Notes,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

Thanks for sending the serial, I checked it and there is nothing wrong with it.

Are you still having the same problems with 10.3.9?

Take a look and see if they are RTAS or AAX that you are trying to recall.

Both 3.03r1 and the new 3.1 are AAX native and should work perfectly with 10.3.9 and PT11.

Is it possible to move up to ProTools 11 as it works only with AAX, things are a bit more tricky with the 10.3.9 which is a "hybrid" that can work as either RTAS or AAX Native that some people need to keep their compatibility with those plug-ins that are not AAX Native.

Best Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick, I still haven't found a workaround so far.

The settings I'm trying to recall are AAX as I only install AAX plugins these day's and skip the rtas versions.
The settings have TFX extensions and are saved with the default Pro Tools save as function, I have been double checking with other AAX plugins to see where and how presets gets saved and they all are .TFX

With the new P&M 3.1 I did the same, again TFX and the newly saved ones appear correctly in the presets folders. Ill keep digging into it...

Atm I can't move up to PT 11 as I'm still waiting on some plugins to become AAX.

Cheers

Hello Notes,

We have had reports of this type of behaviour.

Could you send me a private message with your serial number as it seems to be related to a batch that are not good.

Best Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick, thanks for the reply, private message send.

Hi Nick,

I just installed a new Windows 7 system with PT10.3.9 and encountering 2 issues with the P&M plugins.

1) With the 3.0.3r1 & 3.1 plugins I can't recall my previously saved Pro Tools sessions that had P&M plugins inserted. The plugins gets made inactive to load the sessions with the following notice: The following plug-ins were made inactive because they could not be found in the plug-ins folder: followed by the list of inactive plug-ins, although they are installed corectly.

Once in the session I cannot activate them yet I can assign and open a new copy of the plug-ins from my plug-ins menu, leading to my next issue.

2) When activating a new plug-in I can't recall my previously saved presets that were saved with the default save settings as function in Pro Tools, mentioning the following error: These files are not valid settings files for the plug-in:

I would like to point out that on my earlier system I had the same issue after installing the 3.1 update, reverting back to 3.0.3r1 solved that. So during my new system install I first used the 3.0.3r1 installer as a safety measure yet for some reason that didn't work out.

I hope there is a solution and/or workaround for this as I'm working on large sessions that needs to be recalled, assigning a fresh copy of the plug-in ain't a problem yet recalling and/or importing my settings is my main concern right now.

Thanks

Same problem here. Just updated to PT 10.3.5 on PC and now no P&M plugins show up!

Hi bisszerk, along with a user on the DUC we found the work around. (a bit time consuming but works)
The deal is, PT wants to have the following folder structure for each plugin to work. Plug and Mix (as main folder) then a folder with the name of the plug-in, Contents, Win 32, plug-in!

(for example)

"C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\Plug and Mix\PM-Ambiosoniq.aaxplugin\Contents\Win32\PM-Ambiosoniq.aaxplugin". (the last is the actual plug-in file)

Yes, this needs to be done for all 40 plug-ins, so I suggest to start with 1 New folder in the Plug and Mix main folder to start with. Create a New folder\Contents\Win32 , then copy/paste this New folder 39 times in the Plug and Mix folder and add in each Win32 folder a plug-in file and rename the New folder accordingly to the corresponding Plug-in.

This worked for me, good luck!

Cheers

Hi Notes,

Thanks for your interest in DontCrack and Plug&Mix.

I would suggest "repairing permissions" we had some other people who had this and once they "repaired" everything went well.

Another thing that has got people up and running is to manually assigned the "music" user rights to write in the library folder containing P&Ms authorization program.

The Mac OS has been full of "tricks" as the modifications done by Apple lately have not been well documented.

Try this then re-install and it should work, some other people had this little problem.

If it doesn't solve the problem get back to me as soon as you can.

Best Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick, thanks for the info, though I should have mentioned that I'm on Win 7 Pro 64Bit and not a Mac, my mistake.
What I think has changed since the PT 10.3.5 update is their folder structure. Not sure if you heard of other users on Win 7 who had the same issue? I noticed a few on the DUC but no solution so far.

Cheers

Not sure if anyone has the same issue or pointed this one out yet...

I installed the Pro Tools 10.3.5 update yesterday and when opening a session today containing the Plug & Mix plug-ins I get the following message in the Pro Tools session notes.

"The following plug-ins were made inactive because they could not be found in the plug-ins folder:" followed by the list of course.

I verified that the P&M AAX bundle is actually in the plugins folder and it was. (Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Plug and Mix)
So I thought maybe uninstalling & reinstalling might do the trick, yet so far this didn't help me to solve this issue.

Thx for any help, cheers
