I've gotta take a poke at the remaining companies that still use hardware dongles mostly designed to irritate their legitimate customers. Just went through the pain of paying $120 for a "free" iLok replacement after a lot of unreliability. Fortunately most players (e.g. Waves) have seen the light and stopped using them. I like the look of the XILS stuff and would buy the whole bundle on the current sale, but I'm not putting any money into software that will be unusable half the time.

Hello talentimo,

Some manufacturers still find it a great way to protect their software against being 'cracked'.

$120 is an enormous amount to replace an iLok so I really understand your position.

Why did it cost so much?

May be your you can help others to avoid being in the same situation.

Ilok is 'dongle-free' now, it is a choice whether the account is dongle-based or a code transferred from machine to machine using an account.

Best Regards,

Nick
